Smells like the Nirvana

February 28, 2007

Yeah, take a look at this promo material thingie (a teaser, basically). It appeared on the official QotSA site. That riff is way too Smells Like Teen Spirit, but love the way they bring in the second guitar.
(probably it was intended to sound similar)

Gaaah, can’t wait for this album!!

Keep it sugarless

February 22, 2007

Every miracle lasts only for a day. Yesterday I got only 12 views here. And I think I know why I had so much the day before yesterday: I put this link up on my last.fm profile. Yeah. Probably.

And now I can be officially considered post-rock fan (duhh): I found this band, Set Fire to Flames, and they are great. I like some other post-rock bands too, Explosions on the Sky are good, for example, but they are too sterile in some way. Now, Set Fire to Flames albums are recorded in screeching old houses, so the music is filled with random sounds and ambience. Great atmosphere.

You can listen to them on their record label’s site. Just click on the albums and there’ll be a small player thingie. Whole albums! Nice thing, alien8 recordings.

(btw, you can check some other bands signed to this label. Experimental / noise / ambient, mostly. Pretty good.)

I did some experiencing with the custom CSS but I’d have to purchase some extra account to save it):

Questionable Content is awesome lately.

Mutant in, mutant out

February 21, 2007

Okay, this is the last “rant about X-MenEvolution being stupid” kind of a post. Hell, what do you expect in an animated series where the most common dialogue is:

Character A: I think I know who did this.
Character B (whispers): Mistique / Sabertooth / Magneeeeto / Wolverine (or any other codename)

Garbage in, garbage out

February 21, 2007

I found a good noise/something rock band, The Intelligence. Check out their myspace. Noisy and raw and lo-fi. They don’t have Nice Tries up there, but maybe it’s the song I like the most.

Still watching X-men Evolution and still finding more and more annoying things (which don’t stop me from watching further episodes). I mean, I understand that they are superheroes, but why can’t they keep a fckin rope on the X-Jet?
[spoiler warning]
In episode 2.07 (Adrift), Jane wants to pull out Scott and his brother form the ragin sea. She’s on the X-Jet, trying to lift them up with her powers. She’s not strong enough, so everything is going slooow and slooow. There are tons of hi-tech gadgets and equipments up there. But not a rope. Duhh.
[end of spoilers]

How high is the Moon?

February 19, 2007

– How fast is real fast?
- Put it this way: you don’t get parachutes.

Goota love cool macho “we are the US Army” quotes (:

(
this one being from X-Men Evolution 2/10, Operation Rebirth. The most disgustingly patriotic episode. How fake it is…

I guess quite a few “POW camps in Poland” had children in them. Those are a bit different camps.

gahh, the most annoying thing about X-Men Evolution is that it’s more American than I can handle. Still love watching it… :(

Don’t go all college drama on me!

Did you know that PJ Harvey’s voice is better than mine? I know it’s hard, but please, believe me. Don’t make me prove it.

PJ Harvey – Shame (live)
Listen to PJ Harvey herself instead.

In other news: at last, I have school holidays, which is greaaaat!

I updated my music review blog with a shortish review about Ta-Dah, Scissor Sisters’ second album.
